Yarn
Silk chiffon is known for its strength, gorgeous drape, and sheer texture. It has a slightly crepey surface, which helps it “grab” fiber when felting, but is loosely woven enough to make the process straightforward.
This piece is a 17×56” colorblock jewel tone, 8 mm. It consists of jade, burgundy, sapphire, and a blazing autumnal orange.
All of my nuno silks have unfinished edges. Some may have one or two selvedge edges but all have at least some raw edges. You can finish these by felting over them, rolling and stitching, or just leave them as-is for an extra rustic look.
Silk organza is sheer and crisp, with a stiffer texture than other silks in this section. The loose weave helps the felting process, while the stiffness makes it stay put just a smidge better while laying out designs.
This piece is a 14×54” 5 mm organza scarf blank dyed with shades of blue, green, and orange.

This yarn has 900 yards to the ounce, It is sold by weight, with 1.4 ounces available. Your purchase will come wound on a 3D printed storage bobbin, so no worries about fighting with super-tiny threads on your swift. Threads may not be in one contiguous length, though discontinuities are kept to a minimum (I try for no more than two pieces per spool) and no short lengths will be included.
This thread is a rich berry red, with purple/mauve undertones, and is nearly matte with a nice tooth to the surface.
